Words matter. The Church is universal. Find out how we can help the young people more fully realize the power of language! As adults who work with young people, we are called to be advocates for the young church. One of the ways we do that is to more fully understand our faith and its celebrations so we can help young people embrace those changes. Check out these great videos to learn more.
Randy Rouse, President of Life Teen, has a great article on the LT website this week. In it, he lists four common reasons young people stop coming to youth ministry programs.
I’m an average teen. I am in 11th grade and I work a part time job at a local grocery store. I am Catholic and was confirmed last spring. I don’t come from a messed up family, just a family that is spun in many different directions each day.I have a few close friends who I have been friends with since I was in elementary school. Most of my other friends are people I know from the internet and are part of on online gaming group I hang out with online after school. I am a loyal person and once I become your friend, I am always your friend. I just stopped coming to your youth group.

How can you celebrate your seniors?
First, think about hosting a Blessing for Graduates. Plan now to get it on the calendar. Download the blessing below. Ask another parish group to host a reception for the seniors and their families after the blessing. Advertise, communicate, serve.
Second, consider giving out CYM's brochure, Eleven Suggestions for Living Your Catholic Faith After High School. Brochures are available from CYM by using this form.
Finally, give out postcards to your seniors encouraging them to enter their contact information and college or university, if applicable online. The card directs them to catholicsoncampus.com and once they enter their information, seniors are eligible to win a $25 iTunes gifts card. A new winner will be drawn each week. Postcards can be order on the same form as the brochures.
Planning for 2011-2012 is well underway in our parishes and respective youth ministry programs. The CYM calendar has been online since February, but unless you check out the CYM Forum, you'll never find it. Visit the Forum today and look for the thread for the CYM Calendar. Read it, post a reply (if you are a registered member), or just print the calendar.
If you are really daring, start a thread of your own, view the membership, upload your own photo or documents, and more. Or you could click RSS or ATOM Feed at the bottom and receive an email in your inbox every time the Forum is updated.
Check out the Forum today. If you get confused, do not be afraid! An online tutorial is on its way.
