CMD Courses Now In Full Swing

posted Thu, Aug 19, 2010

Catholic Youth Ministry will be hosting CMD Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies starting in October 2010. These classes are being offered at a reduced rate so we can gather as many youth ministry leaders from our diocese as possible.

Offering the training locally allows our diocese to welcome a cohort of parish and school leaders to study together, pray together, and work on projects and homework together as they complete work towards this nationally recognized certificate. A quick survey of youth ministry leaders in our diocese recently found 22 leaders interested in taking the classes and completing the certificate. Because we will host the courses at a parish and housing will not be necessary, the courses can be offered at a reduced rate. Sharing the cost allows CYM to charge participants and their parishes or schools $50 per person per two-day course, for a total of $100. CYM will contribute $50 per person per two-day course.

Started by Pope John Paul II, World Youth Day invites hundreds of thousands of youth and young adults to gather with the Holy Father to pray, learn more about their faith, and celebrate being Catholic with a multitude of their peers. The Diocese of Wilmington has participated in the last five World Youth Day celebrations all over the world. The next celebration is in Madrid in August 2011. Start saving your money and sign up today!

The Diocese of Wilmington will sponsor two pilgrimages to World Youth Day in Madrid during August 2011. The first, a youth pilgrimage, is for those who will graduate from high school in 2011, 2012, and 2013. For a registration packet, which includes costs, the itinerary, registration form, and an EF Tours Enrollment Book, please see related documents below.

The second pilgrimage is for young adults (those who will graduate high school in 2010 but not be older than 35 years when WYD occurs in August 2011.
