Follow Up Meetings set for Primary Youth
Ministry Contacts
If you
are the primary point of contact for Catholic Youth Ministry and you missed the Primary
Contact Meeting on September 10th, please plan to attend one of the
make up sessions. These sessions will be held Thursday, October 5th from 7 to 9
at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Bear, DE and on Thursday, October 12th from
7 to 9 p.m. at St. Joseph in Middletown, DE. It is essential that youth ministry
contacts at all parishes be represented at one of these meetings to receive the
CYM Policies and Guidelines and to join in the discussion of ongoing
improvements to CYM programming. Please
RSVP to
CYM if you plan to attend.
World Youth Day Interest Meeting
is October 2nd
The next international gathering of youth and
young adults will be held in July 2008 in Australia. Catholic Youth Ministry has
completed their research and now we need your input. If you are interested in
taking a group of young people or young adults to
WYD in 2008, please attend the interest
meeting on Monday, October 2, 2006 at Holy Family in Newark, DE. The
meeting begins at 7:00. Topics to be discussed include
the length of the trip and potential costs. Please note, this meeting is not for
interested youth or young adults. It is for potential group leaders who have an
interest in helping to shape the pilgrimage. Please
email
CYM or call 302-658-3800 to let us know you will be attending.
Young People’s Training for
Proclaiming the Word and being a Eucharistic Minister
These two in-services, brought to you by the Office for Worship and CYM, have
been combined. They will take place simultaneously on Saturday, October 28th at
Holy Cross in English and Spanish. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and
instruction begins at 10 a.m. The day concludes at 1 p.m. Please complete
the parish or school
Registration Form to have your young people included in the
training. Following the training a letter will be sent to pastors announcing
that their young people are now ready for any local instruction and then should
be included in the regular line up of parish ministers. Don't miss this chance
to have your parish represented at this important (and bilingual) event.
CYM/RE In-service: “Magical Methods for
Adolescent Faith Formation”
“Parents aren’t interested or supportive of
the religious education or youth ministry program.” “I just don’t know how to
keep order in the class or in a group without being a snarling tyrant.” Are
these comments familiar to you and your parish ministry team? Then let us help
you do something about it! Join us from 9 to 3 on Saturday, October 21st at
Corpus Christi Parish for an workshop with expert catechist Dobie Moser. For
more information, click here.
National Black Leader to
Speak at Annual Right to Life Banquet
Black women are approximately three times more likely to have an

well above the national average. This year’s annual Right to Life banquet
speaker, Day Gardner, will address this topic on Thursday, October 12 at
Christiana Hilton. Garner, former director of Black Americans for Life, is the
new Media Specialist at the National pro Life Action Center on Capitol Hill in
Washington, D.C. She is also president of the newly formed national Black
Pro-Life Union, likewise based in D.C.

Quick Quiz
Congratulations Judy Krajewski
of St. John the Beloved parish, who correctly
identified the Feast of the Assumption as
the feast day called by
historians as "most probably the oldest
among all the feasts of Mary?"

altars and in churches growing up...What
does IHS refer to? Email your answer to CYM today!
