Quotable
I expect to pass through life
but once. If therefore, there be any
kindness I can show, or any good thing I can
do to any fellow being, let me do it now,
and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not
pass this way again. ~William Penn |

Champion of the Poor
On September 27, the Church celebrates the feast of Saint
Vincent de Paul, patron saint of all works of charity. Vincent dedicated his life to caring for the sick and the poor. He established religious orders for both men and women to help him with this work. Vincent saw caring for the sick and poor as a continuation of prayer and time spent with God. Quick Quiz
Would you believe nobody got the
answer correct last issue? The question, Who was the first Native
American canonized a saint? fielded more
responses than any other question. But
everyone answered Kateri Teckakwitha. Sorry
folks, Kateri isn't a saint...yet! The first
indigenous (truly native) person canonized
was Juan Diego.
