Disciples Now Cards of Care -
This Disciples
Now initiative, Cards Of Care, invites
middle and high school youth to begin a gift
card collection campaign in their local
communities. Cards collected during the
campaign will be forwarded for distribution
in hurricane affected areas. This is an
opportunity for Catholic young people to
advocate for and act on behalf of those
devastated by Katrina. It is a simple and
tangible response to the Gospel call to

Regarding notarization of NFCYM NCYC Form G:
notary services will be available at the
NCYC delegation meeting to be held in
October. NCYC attendees, their parents, and
other chaperones will be strongly encouraged
to attend the meeting and may have NCYC
participant forms notarized at that time.

Fall Formation
Day
Adult leaders in youth ministry are
encouraged to participate in the upcoming
Formation Day on Saturday, 11/12. All
sessions are open to any participant, but
adults who minister to and with young people
in a youth ministry setting are particularly
encouraged to consider attending either the
session on Retreat Planning (presented by
Debbie McDonald, Executive Director of the
Office of Youth Ministry for the Archdiocese
of Washington) or Cutting, Self Mutilation,
and Self-Destructive Behaviors (presented by
Coleen O’Connor, Program Coordinator at
First State School, a nationally certified
counselor who serves as chair of the CYM

Children of the Summer
Congratulations to Robyn and Len Correale on
the birth of their daughter, Sophia Grace
and to Alison and Jude Szczerba, on the
birth of their daughter, Anna Lucia. Robyn
and Alison serve two of our parishes, St.
Mary of the Assumption and St. Mary
Magdalen, respectively, as Coordinators of
Youth Ministry. May God continue to bless
your families!

other youth-serving organizations. The
