In this time of the year when we have less light in our days and more work on our desks, let us pause to give thanks for the many ways God continues to bless our ministry to, with and for youth.

For this week, we offer you the following:

  1. Youth Ministry across the nation lost a great friend last week. Your prayers are requested for family and friends of Mike Yaconelli, the founder of Youth Specialities, and a legend in youth ministry. Mike died last week following a car accident in California.

  2. Join us for the next Youth Ministry Institute Seminar on Saturday, November 8, 2003 at St. Thomas More in Magnolia, DE. Noted Scripture Enthusiast Mary Louise Chesley-Cora will present "Bringing the Hebrew Scriptures to Life for Young People." To register or for more information, visit the YMI page.

  3. If you are going to NCYC, you and your young people only have a few more days to get your forms turned into CYM.

  4. Now available! The directions for the CYM Online Directory are available online. Get your user name and password today and stay connected.

  5. We've fixed the link to the Vision Statement on Scouting as Youth Ministry. Youth Ministers and Scout Leaders are encouraged to download a copy and share it with others!

  6. Welcome to Alison Hodrick, the new Coordinator of Youth Ministry at St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Wilmington and congratulations to the team that spent nine months paving the way for her arrival!

  7. Any parishes or schools planning to hold a Food Fast this fall, are asked to contact Neal Deles at Catholic Relief Services. Neal is new to the staff and is anxious to see a Food Fast in action.

  8. CYM has a copy of new Confirmation Resources from Pflaum Publishing which you are welcome to borrow.

  9. The Youth Ministry of Holy Angels is planning an overnight bowling Lock-In at Blue Hen Lanes in Newark and a trip to the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, DC. Anyone interested in being a part of the action is encouraged to contact Lee Scarano via email or phone (302-731-2437).

  10. Theology on Tap returns for Advent! Download a flyer to post at your parish or place of business (or both!) and spread the word. Everyone raise a glass, there's more to the week than Mass!

  11. Next issue: Winter Basketball Tournament Updates! If you have information you'd like to share, please send it to CYM.
