The clock is ticking for those who wish to attend the 2002 Youth Festival at St. Anthony in the Hills on Saturday, May 11, 2002. Two flyers have been sent to parish and school contacts and unfortunately the information provided was a bit confusing. So here's the scoop: the Youth Festival is open to all 6th through 12th graders in the Diocese of Wilmington. Tickets are $15 until May 5th and $20 thereafter. To register in advance, simply email or fax your list of participants to CYM by May 5th. If you wish to prepay, we'll get the tickets (which are actually armbands) to you ahead of time. Then anyone on your list can just show up and pay their $15 on the 11th. Anyone from your parish who shows up and isn't pre-registered (on the list you sent by May 5th) will pay the $20 'at the door' price. We need an accurate count, so the sooner you register, the better prepared we can be! Email registration lists to catholicyouth@cdow.org and/or fax lists to (302) 658-7617. For more info, visit http://www.cdow.org/cymjoinup.html. Steve Angrisano will lead the music at Mass and then host a concert after dinner. Anyone who wishes to sing with him should email catholicyouth@cdow.org. Dinner will include pizza, drinks, chips and cookies and there will be two dances following the concert (one for junior high and one for senior high). A limited number of t-shirts will be available for $5 each. The shirts are white, short-sleeved, and have the diocesan crest on the front in blue and the CYM logo on the back in green and blue. Shirts will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis and are available as of April 24, 2002. Every parish/school contact that brings more than 20 will receive a free t-shirt! World Youth Day is filling up fast! Since we've only registered 55 people to date (paperwork is signed and payments are in), we've reduced our group from 150 to 80. That means there are only 25 spaces left! To attend, log onto the web and visit http://www.cdow.org/cymyouthday.html. Last call for posters, bookmarks and promotional videos! Please email us at catholicyouth@cdow.org and we’ll send these resources to you. Registration is also open for Youth Leadership Institute. Parish and school contacts should have received the materials a few weeks ago. If you haven't passed on the info to the two delegates from your parish, please do so today. The deadline for YLI info sheets (from parish contacts) is May 10th. The deadline for youth registration/permission forms is May 17th. If you have questions, please call CYM at (302) 658-3800. The Association of Youth Ministers (AYM) is offering two $100 scholarships for YLI this year. Applicants should write a letter to Barb Kelly at Resurrection Parish and explain: why they want to participate, what leadership skills they hope to develop or acquire, how the skills they learn will impact their parish, school, and community. Barb's address is 3000 Videre Drive, Wilmington, DE 19808. Her number is (302) 453-8922. Ready! Set! Draw! The annual Drug Free Poster Contest has begun. Flyers are posted at http://www.cdowcym.org/pdf/dfp02.pdf. All posters should be turned in by June 3rd. The NFCYM recently published Restoring the Trust - a great online resource available to help parents, priests and youth ministers discuss the recent issues in the Church. Log onto http://www.nfcym.org/2001/restoring_trust/index.html for more information. Something new is happening this summer at the University of Notre Dame. The Notre Dame Vocation Initiative (NDVI) is coordinating a number of programs designed to foster a sense of vocation among a wide range of young people today, inviting them to become more aware of how they can live their whole lives as a response to a call from God. Four separate weeks of the program, accommodating up to 400 students per week will be held this summer. ND Vision will run from June 17-21, June 24-28, July 8-12, and July 15-19. The cost for each student is $225. For more information and for online registration, visit the NDVI website at http://www.nd.edu/~ndvi. Scholarship money is available by emailing catholicyouth@cdow.org. New! All the past issues of Ladders Online are now archived for easy access.
